If you know me, you know I love a challenge.
Whilst travelling in Australia, my sister called and said, “Let’s all enter the London Marathon ballot for 2026.” To my surprise, I got in. So here I am, training for my second marathon. But this one’s different. This time, I’m running not just for myself, but for something far bigger.
🌊 Why I’m fundraising for Surfers Against Sewage 🌊
I’ve always been drawn to the ocean. As a marine biology graduate who studied on the Cornish coast and later became a PADI Divemaster, the sea has shaped everything I do. But I’ve also seen the damage. What should be crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life is now too often a scene of plastic pollution, sewage spills, and silence where there should be life.
That’s why I created Radical, a platform to dive deep into the salty truths of ocean conservation and challenge the status quo. And that’s why I’ve chosen to run the 2025 London Marathon for Surfers Against Sewage.
Who Are Surfers Against Sewage?
Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) are a UK-based environmental charity born from the surf community and now leading the fight to protect the ocean, beaches, and waterways. They campaign on the frontlines against plastic pollution, raw sewage spills, and ocean degradation. They’ve helped push national policy, hold corporations to account, and empower local communities to take action.
From organising thousands of beach cleans, to lobbying the government for cleaner water standards, to educating the next generation of ocean protectors. SAS are salty, scrappy, and serious about change. That makes them the perfect match for Radical.
Why It Matters
This isn’t just a marathon. It’s a mission.
By running 26.2 miles through the heart of London, I hope to raise £1,000 for Surfers Against Sewage, funds that will directly support campaigns to end sewage dumping, reduce plastic waste, and inspire real change from the grassroots up.
Whether you live by the sea, surf its waves, swim its shores, or simply care about the future of our blue planet, your support means everything.
Let’s fight for a thriving ocean, one stride, one wave, one action at a time.
